The Pyrotechnics Guild International, Inc. is an independent worldwide body of amateur and professional fireworks enthusiasts, founded in 1969.
This organization was founded in 1969 with four aims:
PGI fulfills its mission by providing information, education and training, and networking opportunities for pyrotechnicians and enthusiasts. Our annual convention brings together hundreds of members to share panel discussions, workshops, hands-on learning, photography and video, and nightly displays.
The PGI Bulletin, published 5 times a year, includes articles on the history, science and engineering, and safe manufacture and use of pyrotechnics. We also provide seminars and workshops and sponsor activities by regional groups such as the Western Pyrotechnic Association.
PGI's Certified Display Operator Course is one of only two courses in the United States recognized by the National Fire Protection Agency as meeting NFPA safety codes 1123 and 1124 pertaining to firework displays. The course is available to non-members as well as members, although we invite and encourage all fireworks enthusiasts to become members of the PGI community.
